The University of Mississippi announced today that BL Harbert International has been awarded the $68.9 million contract to build the new University of Mississippi Arena. The approximately 230,000-square-foot facility is scheduled to begin construction immediately.
“We are honored to build a marquee project for Ole Miss that will have a lasting impact on a college campus and its students for the next 50 years. BL Harbert looks forward to working with AECOM and the University in providing the students with another great SEC Arena.” said Gary W. Savage, BL Harbert President of U.S. Operations.
The 9,600-seat arena will be completed by late 2015, just in time to host the 2016 Ole Miss Basketball Teams. The state-of-the-art facility will include the basketball court, premier locker room suites for players and coaching staff, training facilities, a Courtside Club, All-American Suites, and the Arena Club.
Kansas City-based global architect AECOM will serve as the architect for the new Ole Miss Arena.
In 2013, BL Harbert actively worked on seven college campuses, and completed the Auburn University Arena in 2010.
