Business Development Manager - Houston, TX

Purpose: To acquire profitable construction business for the company in the Gulf Coast and southeast U.S. with a focus on power and process customers utilizing an existing customer network within the power and/or process industries.

Essential Skills (must possess the ability to)
  • Develop new and maintaining existing customer relationships
  • Seek customers in company target markets through research and direct contact with potential customers
  • Generate project/business opportunities and RFP’s through customer contacts to meet company’s business plans and growth strategies
  • Knowledge of and network in the Gulf Coast & Southeast U.S. of customers and clients that work within the markets that we provided services for.
  • Excellent presentation, verbal, written and people skills
  • Drive the sales process  from inquiry/RFP coordination through  “Closing the Deal”
  • Develop and maintain relationships with Major Equipment Vendors and Process Technology Providers
  • Collaborate with company management to prepare and implement the company’s Market Business Development Plan and strategy for meeting business goals.
  • Track and report  specific, current status of potential projects; markets; Customer news and developments; maintain customer contact list
  •  Lead the development and preparation of RFP’s; Pre-Qualification; formal presentations.  Ensure that all communication with customers Clients is in accordance with our standards and correct in content and format.
  • Solicit customer feedback through the project proposal and execution phases.
  Essential Qualifications
  • Four year technical degree or equivalent experience
  • 10+ years of Power and/or Process Business Development experience (Project Management, Construction Management or Engineering Management experience preferred)
  Physical Requirements
  • Frequently lift objects weighing up to 25 pounds
  • Climb stairs
  • Sit for long periods of time
  • Occasionally stoop, kneel or crouch
  • Use hands and arms to reach for, grasp and manipulate objects
  Environment: Most work time is spent in a comfortable office.  Routine travel (approximately 40%) between the main office, corporate headquarters, client locations and field site locations is required.  Field sites can be dusty, dirty, noisy and occasionally hazardous.   BL Harbert International is an EOE/Vets/Disabilities
