Brief History of BLHI
B.L. Harbert International began construction operations in 2000 under the leadership of Billy Harbert, Jr., whose new company is carrying on a family tradition in the international construction industry dating back to the '40's. His father, Bill Harbert, co-founded Harbert Construction Corporation in 1949 with his brother John. From highway and heavy construction, that company quickly expanded into pipeline, industrial and building construction, both within the United States and throughout the world.
Billy Harbert, Jr. is now leading his own worldwide, multi-disciplined construction company into the future, building on the legacy and lessons of the past 50+ years.
B.L. Harbert International has five operating divisions consisting of Government, International, Commercial, Healthcare, and Civil. These divisions undertake the construction of office buildings, hotels, condominiums, institutional, healthcare facilities, commercial and industrial buildings, water and wastewater treatment plants, pipelines and other infrastructure projects. Much of the work is for repeat clients in both the private and public sectors. A strong background of successful design-build contracts has established the company as a leader in the design-build field, taking advantage of B.L. Harbert International's diverse construction experience.
