The
RAH-66 Comanche Training Facility, located at Fort Rucker,
Alabama, is a 67,000 square foot building designed to train
Army pilots
to operate the new Comanche armed reconnaissance helicopter.
The building consists of two major components to support this
mission, high-bay laboratories and classrooms, each of which
include support areas. The three high-bay lab areas each house
two full-motion flight simulators. The classrooms are designed
to hold a total of approximately 250 students and feature STC
50 rated enclosures, stepped ceilings, tackable acoustic wall
panels and raised access flooring.
Complementing the design of existing surrounding structures,
the building façade features a combination of red brick
veneer, matching precast concrete trim and beige insulated
metal wall panels.
The building’s curtainwall windows and entrances are
bronze with bronze-tinted, laminated high-performance glass.
The roof and fascia features a bronze standing seam metal.
The construction contract also includes the supply and installation
of modular furniture, audio/visual equipment and overhead bridge
cranes.
