The DISCOM Barracks Complex Phases
I/IIA are the first phases of a new barracks community for
the soldiers of the Division Support Command.
The complex has nine buildings totaling approximately 262,000
square feet of new space.
Barracks Building – A three story complex which provides
individual sleeping rooms for 336 soldiers and a bath area
for every two soldiers. The barracks also provides a common
area with kitchen, laundry, personal storage, mailroom and
recreation areas.
Dining Facility – A 25,000 square foot, full-service
dining facility within walking distance of the barracks.
Company Operations – On the other side of the campus
are work areas for the DISCOM soldiers. The Company Operations
Building consists of offices and warehouse space for eight
companies.
Headquarters Buildings – Project also includes five,
each 14,000 square feet, Headquarters Buildings. These buildings
include offices, conference rooms and classrooms for training.
In addition to the buildings we completed over $10,000,000
of infrastructure for the site. This work consisted of new
sanitary sewer lines with lift station, new roads, parking
lots, sidewalks, electrical and communication distribution,
tennis courts and basketball courts.
In accordance with the Partnering Agreement with the U.S. Army
Corp of Engineers, the project was completed on time and without
any lost time accidents.
Bill Harbert International Construction, Inc. (BHIC) was the
contractor of record for the project. In January 2000 all employees
of BHIC became employees of B.L. Harbert International (BLHI).
The management and supervisory teams now employed by BLHI constructed
the project.
