The Municipal Justice and Public
Safety Center located in Huntsville, Alabama, is over 230,000
square feet. The public areas include courtrooms, probation
offices, classrooms and support system offices.
The jail is two stories with 160-cells controlled by the latest
touch-screen technology. The jail also includes a ten-cell
booking and release area, a ten-cell medical area and a 4,000
square foot kitchen. The interior finishes include imported
tile flooring and carpet.
Bill Harbert International Construction, Inc. (BHIC) was the
contractor of record for the project. In January 2000 all employees
of BHIC became employees of B. L. Harbert International (BLHI).
The management and supervisory teams now employed by BLHI constructed
