The Kirkland Clinic at Acton Road provides treatment to cancer
patients in a comfortable, pleasing setting.
The three-story, 25,000 square foot facility is located
on a three-acre site. The building has a structural steel
frame
with composite concrete floors. The exterior envelope includes
blue tinted insulated glass, alucobond metal panels, metal
roof, masonry banding and EIFS wall systems. The interior finishes
are class “A” type for the clinic spaces and physicians’ offices.
The center has a linear accelerator, a CT scanner and X-Ray
equipment. The area for the linear accelerator has four-feet
to eight-feet thick cast-in-place walls.
The mechanical, electrical and plumbing systems meet hospital
specifications.
All electronic
systems have a real-time link to the main University of
Alabama at Birmingham campus.
