Position Description

B.L. Harbert International is seeking a Security Coordinator for the International Group located in Birmingham, Alabama. Candidate will report directly to the Facility Security Officer.

Responsibilities:

  • Manage administrative activity related to security clearances for employees, including all Security and Security related training
  • Prepare Subcontract DD-254’s for FSO review and track, monitor, and distribute all contract DD-254s
  • Assist in obtaining Business, Work permit/residency, family visas and police clearances
  • Request ProjNet accounts and folder access through the appropriate Government Contracting Activity (GCA) channels
  • Assist in performing self-inspections as required by the Defense Security Service (DSS)
  • Assist in obtaining all official documents (i.e. birth certificates, marriage licenses, diplomas, transcript verification letters, etc.)
  • Assist in obtaining Legalization documents (i.e. apostilles and certifications from county governments, state governments, USDOS, and other country governments)
  • Assist in obtaining passports, passport renewals and providing passport photo service
  • Assist the FSO in developing Security Briefings and other Security Training material
  • Monitor, track and manage Joint Personnel Adjudication System (JPAS) accounts
  • Process VARs and ECCs
  • Prepare, issue and maintain the distribution of employee ID badges for BLHI Campus Buildings
  • Other duties as assigned by Facility Security Officer

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Well-developed written and verbal communication skills

Position Description

B.L. Harbert International is looking for a Mechanical Engineer to work with the International Group in Birmingham, Alabama. Candidate will report to the Mechanical Director.

Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the development of design on Design-Build projects
  • Carry out Value-Engineering (VE) and Constructability Studies
  • Carry out Life-Cycle Cost Study Analyses (LCAAs)
  • Carry out Construction Contract Administration (RFIs/Submittals/O&Ms/REAs, etc.)
  • Carry out Quantifications of Material and Equipment
  • Issue Purchase Requests (PRs) and Purchase Orders (POs)
  • Coordinate vendor start-ups and commissioning
  • Support On-site Project Coordinators and Site Personnel as needed

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the US Government
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • 3-5 years of mechanical engineering experience
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proficiency with estimating/quantifying software such as: On-Center-Takeoff (OST), Fast Est (FastDUCT/ FastPIPE), Trimble MEP or similar programs
  • Ability to travel to international project locations

Electrical Engineer Birmingham, Alabama, United States

Position Description

B.L. Harbert International is looking for an Electrical Engineer to work with the International Group in Birmingham, Alabama. The position is responsible for the support of International construction project sites’ electrical department/scope. Communication is at the center of the position, employee will need to share lessons learned and issues at hand for team resolutions.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand the contractual requirement and ensure the site team complies with the electrical scope
  • Assist in project electrical design review with requests for information, specifications review or design meetings with the owner
  • Assist in selection and procurement of engineered systems such as switchgears, panel boards, lighting package, and generator sets etc.
  • Assist in generating submittals on equipment and material used on the project sites
  • Assist in generating electrical change orders
  • Meet/teleconference with the project electrical engineer counterpart to manage schedule of equipment shipping, site progress, technical or contractual issues
  • Liaise and communicate between site and U.S. vendors about delivery schedules and technical information, troubleshooting, startup and commissioning schedules
  • Attend training on equipment or systems that would benefit in troubleshooting and competitive buy out
  • Learn and understand electrical systems in order to justify the design or support the project site’s installation tasks

Requirements

  • U.S. Citizen
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance through the US Government
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering
  • 2 years’ experience in the electrical field
  • Ability to travel internationally for site visits (less than 3 trips/yr less than 2 weeks/trip)
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
