AGC BuildSouth Awards
The Alabama Associated General Contractors recognized the industry’s top construction projects at the annual BuildSouth Awards Ceremony in Birmingham, AL.
BL Harbert International was honored in multiple ways at the ceremony. Gary Savage, former U.S. Group President, was inducted into the 2023 Alabama Construction Hall of Fame. Gary worked in the construction industry for 34 years, 28 years with the Harbert family, and retired from BL Harbert in 2015. He has had an active role in Alabama AGC, serving as President of the Board of Directors in 2017. His efforts were instrumental in the Alabama AGC’s craft training initiative, which created the Alabama Craft Training Bill providing funding and training necessary for Alabama’s workforce.
Frank Wampol, BLHI’s Vice President of Safety and Health, was awarded the TW Pugh Excellence in Safety Award. This award honors an individual who exemplifies a commitment and dedication to safety that best reflects the values of the Alabama AGC; skill, integrity, and responsibility.
Also, adding to its list of awards, the New U.S. Embassy Compound in Niamey won a BuildSouth Award in the New Design-Build category. BuildSouth Award winners demonstrate excellence in project management, innovation in construction techniques and materials, sensitivity to the environment and local surroundings, and contribution to the community.
